What is PRFM (Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix)?

PRFM is a process used to tighten the skin, lessening the appearance of fine lines, and improve dark hollows under the eyes.

For the procedure, a patients own blood is spun in a centrifuge to remove red blood cells and isolate the healing components in plasma. Activation of these concentrated platelets in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) releases growth factors that stimulate an increased number of reparative cells that your body produces, significantly enhancing your bodies natural healing process.

The addition of calcium gluconate activates the PRP forming a matrix of PRF (Platelets Rich Fibrin) which forms a gel and further allowing for accelerated tissue healing and a sustained inflammatory and regenerating response.

Results are slow and usually aren’t seen until 3-6 months after treatment. A series of 3 treatments one month apart is recommended, with maintenance treatment once a year every 1-2 years.

The downtime associated with the procedure is minimal and includes swelling under the eyes immediately following the procedure. Lasting a few hours up to 2-3 days.
